Paint Correction Explained: One-Step vs Two-Step

Paint correction is machine polishing that removes swirls and light scratches to restore gloss. One-step improves clarity, and two-step corrects heavier defects.

What it fixes

  • Swirl marks and light scratches
  • Haze, dull paint and light oxidation
  • Loss of gloss and clarity

One-step vs two-step

  • One-Step ($300 sedan, $320 SUV): one machine polishing stage that improves gloss and clarity and reduces light to moderate defects.
  • Two-Step ($500 sedan, $520 SUV): a cutting stage followed by a finishing polish, for moderate to heavy swirls, deeper scratches and oxidation.

Every paint correction service with us includes a complete exterior detail, paint decontamination, ceramic wax protection and water spot removal, so you do not need a separate exterior package.

What it cannot do

Results depend on paint condition, paint thickness, defect depth and any previous repairs. Not every defect can be removed safely, and a scratch that goes through the clear coat needs a different repair.

Correction and ceramic coating

Correction is the best first step before ceramic coating, because the coating seals in the finish. Our Ceramic Luxe and Ultra Luxe packages include correction as part of the service.
